Polished Glass
In 2002, Maureen Kulikowska was finally able to indulge her passion for art glass, when she established Polished Glass in the historic town of Knutsford in Cheshire. From small beginnings, the gallery/shop has become renowned for its wide range of glass, both in style and price.
When Polished Glass first opened, it had a small range of English glass and some very individual signed pieces from Poland (hence the name ‘polished glass’). After intensive research, including visits to various parts of the country, it became apparent to Maureen that in the UK there is a wealth of talented artists working with glass. More and more work by these artists, some young, some well-established, was gradually incorporated into the wide range of art glass that has made the business what it is today.
Close links have been made with these artists, and yet Maureen is always looking to extend the already wide collection of pieces. “There are so many creative glass artists in the UK, it is impossible to take as many as I would like”, bemoans Maureen.
Keeping true to her ideals Maureen states, “This is a glass shop. I only sell glass (and amber because I love it)”, Maureen has created this specialist shop which has become a destination for lovers of glass and those looking for something special.
